Our Motto for Celiac Lost?
ChangE or substitute ONE ingredient in a recipe will often make it gluten-free. Knowing the substitution allows you to KEEP your family recipes and traditions.
When we learned Christopher had celiac disease, we didn’t know where to turn for help and how to eat gluten-free. We gave up a lot of our family recipes and traditions because they all contained gluten ingredients.
Christopher started researching about food and viewing YouTube cooking channels to learn the nuances of the gluten-free diet. Slowly we learned about gluten-free alternatives -- gluten-free all-purpose flour, soy sauce, broth -- and we realized we could actually keep our family recipes by substituting ingredients for the healthy option. Through cooking, we also learned about the potential gluten-containing ingredients that could be in a meal and know what questions to ask at restaurants.
